The Impact of the Flower Industry on Kenya’s Sustainable Development

In August 2010, we travelled to Kenya to research about the relationship between the flower industry and Kenya’s prospects for sustainable development.

The report we finally produced, however, only presents a very limited picture of the experiences we gained as we went around Kenya collecting information, data and perceptions about the issues. The aim of this blog space is to complement the final report with additional photos, data, reflections, articles and links to further resources and open our conclusions to wider discussion.

We hope you find these pages informative and that they can inspire you to think about not only the implications of buying a bouquet of roses from a shop (which you may or may not be a fan of), but, on a wider scale, also about the implications of our consumption habits and the impact they have on producers, communities and environmental conditions in developing countries.
